You can feel the Spring energy rising up \u00a0– Loop Head is waking up and getting ready for the new season. The mornings are lighter and the evenings are longer. More importantly \u2013 the sun is getting warmer.<\/p>\n
Once St Patrick\u2019s day arrives and Loop Head lighthouse<\/u><\/a> opens, it is like a signal for everyone else to get ready to start to welcome our visitors. Loop Head lighthouse is now open everyday until November from 10am \u2013 6pm.<\/p>\n

We have had some glorious weather over the past few days. The sea pinks to start blooming, and what a sight it is when these lovely delicate flowers decorate the cliffs edge with their beauty.<\/p>\n

On your way down to the lighthouse is Kilbaha Gallery<\/a>, a destination in itself. This is a wonderful place to browse local art and crafts and enjoy an excellent tea or coffee and perhaps a nice piece of cake. They have a fabulous selection too, From gluten free Toblerone cake to individual mixed berry crumbles.<\/p>\n
Keatings Bar and Restaurant<\/a> has beautiful views across Kilbaha Bay and serves fabulous food. Whether you stop for a coffee and gaze across the water for half an hour or have a great meal<\/a> with locally sourced food, you will enjoy your visit<\/p>\n
The Long Dock<\/a> in Carrigaholt is an award winning restaurant specialising in Seafood but with a full menu including lots of meat choices too. Drop by to sample their superb Fish Chowder and Imelda\u2019s home made brown bread or meet friends for a fabulous 3 course meal<\/a>.<\/p>\n
When you are wandering around Kilkee and enjoying the fresh air,<\/p>\n
Diamond Rocks Caf\u00e9<\/a> also has splendid cakes as well as serving delicious meals all day, and the views are amazing across Kilkee and The Pollock Holes.<\/a><\/p>\n

There is fantastic Irish music to enjoy every week of the year on Loop Head, but especially so as the season starts to get going. There are always traditional Irish Music sessions popping up in various pubs across the peninsula.<\/p>\n

An event not to miss if you love music and food is the Carrigaholt Oyster and Trad Music Festival<\/a> on the 3rd<\/sup> \u2013 5th<\/sup> May. There is a fantastic atmosphere in this beautiful seaside village which boasts The Long Dock<\/a>, an award winning restaurant and 3 fabulous pubs. Carmody\u2019s<\/a>, Morrisey\u2019s<\/a> and Keane\u2019s<\/a>. There will no doubt be dancing as well. The high street is usually taken over by spontaneous Irish dancing. All the pubs in Carrigaholt will be serving oysters, hundreds of them every day. The pub kitchens will be VERY busy.<\/p>\n

It is always a very lively weekend with visitors from far and wide.<\/p>\n

West Clare Trails<\/strong><\/p>\n
There will be a new collection of 14 looped trails signposted on Loop Head, helping visitors to discover more of the beauty of the Loop Head Peninsula. Members from each community on the peninsula have volunteered to help map these trails and it is hoped they will all be signposted by mid summer. There will be maps and booklets to help to navigate the trails.<\/p>\n
There is a new way to explore Loop Head. E bikes<\/a>!\u00a0 There are organised tours as well as bike hire. It is great fun to go cycling around the lanes and bog roads, especially for those of us who thought our cycling days were over.<\/p>\n
